What is the best way to care for a climbing summer jasmine plant. Should it be pruned back?

do they require pruning, and special plant foods?

I have several growing up trellises, over my patio cover and in hanging baskets. The only time I really do any pruning is when vines die because most of the time I can re-direct their vines to where I want them to be. I use regular old Miracle Grow or Preen fertilizer on them, water them when their soil looks dry and largely ignore them until they are in bloom. They do make a bit of a mess after they bloom and they drop, but other than sweeping up after them, they really need little care.
