i love this flower but am worried about being able to sit near it. any suggestions or thoughts?
Is it wise to plant a jasmine vine near my patio seating area...will it attract bees or is there a prevention?
all flowers attract bees. But they are usually very calm when collecting nectar. Just don't show fear or bother them, and you should be fine. If you are allergic, you may want to plant it further away, just for your comfort level.
Reply:you live in Florida?? we have Jasmine all around our patio and it attracts bee's, butterflies, hummingbirds.....and the smell is wonderful....they grow fast and are a big plant so plan for a lot of room when planting....good luck
Reply:Not a problem. Jasmine does not seem to be overly attractive to bees. Having said that, most flowers have insect pollinators, so whatever you plant you are sure to attract something. Bees are harmless if understood, and their droning should be a part of every summer garden.
Reply:I have a Jasmine officianale(summer flowering jasmine) in a large planter at the side of my patio bench. It has lovely white flowers with a heavenly perfume. Although there are occasional flies and bees about I have not found them to be a problem and have had not to take any kind of precautions.Bees I don't worry about. They do not intentionally try to harm or sting you unless they are molested in some way.I let them do their own thing and they don't bother me.Wasps on the other hand are a different thing but they usually concentrate on fruit and not flowers.
Reply:Jasmine will attract bees, but unless you have a hive very near, not in numbers that should bother you. It certainly would not deter me from planting this wonderful plant. Enjoy.
Reply:you have answered this your self bees will be attracted by any sweet flowering plants as for Jasmine i would suggest another area as the flowers are small and take a long time to root in,would prefer a a evergreen clematis which will cost you about a tenner from a garden cebtre
Reply:Any flower will attract bees. Thats their job.
