Do you know about a Jasmine Tree?

I saw one at a local nursery and it smells so good! But I don't know anything about them. Can I plant it outside? Sun or shade? Heat/cold tolerant?

Thanks!

Do you know about a Jasmine Tree?
There are so many types of Jasmine. I may list the very popular ones and very fragrant.

1) Botanical name: Jasminum auriculatum

Family: Oleaceae

This one is the most magnificient and fragrant as it falls under Gardenia family. You can plant this under shades !!!!! Flowers: summer to fall

2) Chinese Jasmine

Botanical name: Jasminum polyanthum

Family: Oleaceae

3) Divine Jasmine

Botanical Name: Catunaregam/Gardenia uliginosa Family: Rubiaceae (coffee family)

4) Yellow Jasmine

Botanical name: Jasminum humile

Family: Oleaceae

You can use the 1 %26amp; 2 as climber and yes it can survive severe cold %26amp; hot. Jasmine loves water %26amp; fertilizers(initially you can use chemical in very very little qty - then shift to organice - but I always suggest organic dried manure based)

For better results prune during spring/rainy season.

Propagation - cut the semi-solid young branches 5" to 6'' long - sow 1" to 1.5" deep in plastic bags during sprin/raniy season. When cutting branches, make sure there are two three eye joint type things in them - these are places from where new shoots will begin.
Reply:there is a website that may help you on this plant.

They talk about the Jasmine tree and how to grow it and bring it indoors if you are in a colder region.
Reply:There are several types of jasmine (and I don't know of any that are a tree - jasmine are shrubs or vines). They can be planted outside, prefer sun but do okay with some shade. Zone tolerance depends on the type of jasmine.

If you saw it recently, it's probably pink jasmine (jasminum polyanthum). I've bought several over the years, and have never gotten them to bloom again though they grow vigorously. I have better luck with star jasmine (jasminum multiflorum), it blooms in the summer and smells wonderful also.
Reply:No, but if you hum a few bars.......................................

=)
Reply:Hi. Jasmine is a close relative to the hibiscus. In any climate that is zone 9 or less, you would need to bring the plant indoors for the winter. They can take full sun with lots of water.
