The people on low carbohydrate diets will tell you that rice is fattening since it's all carbohydrate.

I personally don't believe that it is fattening. It's how much and what you have with it that makes it fattening.

Is jasmine rice fattening for you?
not if it is steamed with water and nothing is added to it when served. it has carbs not fat.

Reply:No!

It all depends on how you cook it.
Reply:Anything in excess is bad or fattening. Jasmine rice is just like any long grain white rice, the Jasmine of it is the fragrance and taste added to it. Carbohydrate turns to sugar, so, treat it like sugar. You can rinse the rice 2-3 times before you cook it, to lessen the starch. However, it will also lessen the fragrance of the Jasmine rice, and will only take only fewer of the calories. For normal person not on a diet, a cup of cooked rice is fine. Rice is starch like pasta and bread.
