She's about 8 months, and is a female. Only bird I have and I am new to having birds as pets.
My Budgie, Jasmine, screeches loudly when i try to get her out of her cage. Why does she do this?
Some birds do not enjoy being handled in a certain manner. Its best to finger train your bird making removal from the cage less stressful for your bird. You can also purchase a "platform ladder" which should be available at your local pet store. The ladder clips to the outside of the opened cage door enabling your bird to exit freely. Once your bird exits the cage of her own free will, you can then encourage your bird onto your finger by placing a finger at the end of the ladder.
Reply:she is becoming cage aggresive that is why and she knows you will back off ,big mistake . keep taking her out no matter what . you need to show her that you are in control not vice versa . you need to teach her to step up on your finger when trying to get her out . she is young enough you can teach her in no uncertain terms who is boss . good luck .
Reply:It's because she doesn't want to come out of the cage. Instead of pulling her out with your hand, you should rather try to coax her out with a tasty treat or a toy, so that she gets used to coming out one her own. Also, it's becaus she's female. Female birds aren't as friendly as males generally. If you're gonna have a lot of birds, then yeah, you can have females, but usually when people buy one bird they buy a male, because the males are generally friendlier, don't bite as much, and talk, whereas the female just wants to have babies. But this is not always the case. Just try getting her used to coming out on her own, and in a while, you will be able to handle her and be able to get her out of her cage without her screeching.
