Can I put Jasmine outside?

My daughter prefers to stay inside - although if she has done anything wrong then by all means!

Can I put Jasmine outside?
Hi:

One of the other responses is correct as there are many different Jasmine species. I am not sure what climate zone you live in. Jasmine is geared toward warmer climates but will grow in colder climates but is deciduous and will die out in the winter time. Jasmine can be a container plant if you get the right variety. Many species of Jasmine are a vine form and can be wonderful on a decorative retaining wall or a trellis. I live in zone seven in the United States and Jasmine grows wild in many areas here. If you don't know, find out your climate zone and this should help you in your decision to consider putting Jasmine outside.

I hope this has helped some and if you need futher suggestions on your Jasmine, please feel free to contact me at my website. I will link you to my site map as this has everything that is on the website. Browse through as you may get some ideas for planting your Jasmine in a container or some specific garden. I will also link you to the Learning Center section as there is a climate zone map that may help you. Good luck to you and have a great day!

Reply:There's a winter jasmine which runs riot in our garden.....
Reply:Jasmine nudiflorum (yellow flowers, no leaves yet) is in full bloom in my garden in the UK (Midlands); the jasmine officianalis (scented white flowers) has some green shoots which it retained since last summer, but a lot of dead wood, too, which will need pruning out. The flowers will come along in the Summer.
Reply:I have a clotted cream jasmine which is growing outside, in a shady part of the garden too. Be careful as some jasmines are hardier than others
Reply:There are many types of Jasmine - some are very suitable for colder climes - but yes, in general Jasmine is an outdoor plant.

I grow Winter flowering Jasmine in the garden - it is OK down to -10C at least as it has gone on flowering during a cold snap at that temperature!
Reply:It depends on your zone
Reply:all Jasmine plants can go outside but it would be better to know weather it is the yellow flowerinf Nudiflorum or the white cented Polyanthermum var. Both will flourish well in our gardens but the white scented flowerinf var. will need protection from hard frosts i.e temps lower than -5
